OREO Double Stuf Peanut Butter Creme

OFFICIAL SNACK REPORT
Sanctioned by WASAW Snack Committee

Reviewed By: Paddy O'Poppycock

Location: A&P

OFFICIAL NAME OF SNACK:
OREO Double Stuf Peanut Butter Creme Cookies

DESCRIPTION OF SNACK:
OREO cookies with a light brown filling, rather than the traditional white. And while the packaging says they are Double Stuf, they sure looked closer to "One-and-a-half Stuf".

SSI RATING (SNACK SATISFACTION INDEX - 1-10): 4.2

UPSIDE:  The chocolate wafer cookies get to shine a bit with the peanut butter filling. The two flavors go nicely together, and it is the combo of both in your mouth that you look forward to, rather than getting past the cookie to get to the creme center with regular OREOs.

DOWNSIDE: Is this snack combo really necessary?  Seriously now. Everyone is out there with their peanut butter this and their peanut butter that, does an American classic like OREO really need to sully their creme filling with the taste of peanut butter? How about a peanut butter and chocolate cookie, but keep the vanilla creme in play? Why didn't anyone consult me before ripping apart a seam of our nation's fabric and stitching it up with peanut butter?

Oh wait. That's right. Nabisco has created a gazillion different flavors of OREOs in the past few years. Strike that whole "messing with an American classic" line. The executives at Nabisco have screwed around with these beauties more than a British rugby team in a Dutch brothel.

Finally, I felt short-changed when it came to the amount of frosting/filling. These are Double Stuf OREOs, for gosh sakes - don't skimp. Sure the peanut butter filling is much stronger than normal, but I can take it. Hell, I once ate an entire 5-scoop Reese's Pieces sundae at Friendly's in under 7 minutes. Give me what I'm deservin', yo'.

PACKAGING:

Straight up OREO.

DO YOU RECOMMEND THIS SNACK? (YES/NO - EXPLAIN):

Not really. Maybe if you can split the package with 50 or so of your friends, then sure - go for it. But this variety is not worth the effort Nabisco went through to try and extend their brand. Again.

WHY DO SNACK COMPANIES INSIST ON F'in AROUND WITH THEIR CLASSIC PRODUCTS?

Boredom, mostly. Also, national security. Changing an American classic keeps the terrorists off their game. Would you attack a nation that takes something as classic as an OREO cookie and fills it with a peanut-based paste? Hell no - you wouldn't even dare attempt to hold up a Starbucks in such an insane society. So I guess we owe Nabisco a big thank you.

ANY OTHER THOUGHTS ON HOW OREO CAN IMPROVE IN GENERAL?

Toothpicks in every package. As we all have experienced, no cookie - no snack period - gets caught in your molars to the extent that OREOs do. Cut us all a break and toss in a small package of toothpicks inside your bag of cookies. Maybe a dental water pick, too.
