Tostitos Hint of Lime Chips

OFFICIAL SNACK REPORT
Sanctioned By WASAW Snack Committee

Reviewed By: Paddy O'Poppycock

Location: A&P - West Milford, NJ

OFFICIAL NAME OF SNACK:
Tostitos Hint of Lime chips

WEIGHT: 14 oz

DESCRIPTION OF SNACK:
Large, restaurant-style crispy flour chips, each with numerous green speckles of lime goodness. Lime goodness tends to stick to one's fingers. (That French dude who illegally climbs skyscrapers every couple of years with no apparent equipment? He uses Hint of Lime powder.)

Warning to dog owners: After snacking on Hint of Lime chips, be sure to wash your hands prior to letting your dog lick your hand. Your dog is NOT expecting the tart-lime BAMMO! that these chips can pack.

SSI RATING (SNACK SATISFACTION INDEX - 1-10):  9

UPSIDE:  For those who like a little tangy wake-me-up with their snack, Tostitos has put together these chips from heaven. The size of the chips are huge (restaurant-style), and the lime powder that Frito-Lay sprinkles on the chips is out of this world. If they wanted to, Tostitos could take the lime powder and sell it in dime bags to junkies, Corona drinkers, and Rush Limbaugh.

Knowing how addictive these could potentially be, I forced myself to divide the Tostitos bag into equal portions to consume over the period of five workdays as part of my lunch. Each day, I would save the chips until the end of my meal. Because once I ate one, I could focus on nothing but polishing off the rest of the chips. (Meeting? What meeting? I have Tostitos Hint of Lime chips in front of me.) And each day, as I neared the end of my chip supply, I cursed myself for having divided the bag into 5 portions. I seriously wanted to just sit there at my desk and one-by-one eat the entire bag. I'm now in detox.

Large chips + tangy goodness = serious addiction.

DOWNSIDE: Tostitos Hint of Lime chips could very well be a gateway drug.

PACKAGING:

Quite frankly, the green works.

When you fall so deeply in love with a snack that is one of a variety of flavors made by the same chip manufacturer, and all the packaging for all the varieties looks relatively uniform, that difference in packaging color is key. (Pringles does this particularly well - I could pick out a Salt & Vinegar Pringles canister from half-a-mile away. While swimming under water. With a jellyfish on my head.)  So nice work, Tostitos. Green's supreme.

DO YOU RECOMMEND THIS SNACK? (YES/NO - EXPLAIN):

Absolutely. But it's sort of like a Neil LaBute film. You recommend it to folks knowing it won't be for everyone. Just the cool, hip ones.
