OFFICIAL NAME OF SNACK:
Palmer's Twin Bing

WEIGHT: 1.3 ounces

DESCRIPTION OF SNACK:
Wow, here goes... the Twin Bing resembles 1) Dolly Parton's breasts if Ms. Parton was a foot tall and made entirely of chocolate and finely crushed peanuts, 2) Elephant testicles. Oddly enough, the Twin Bing's appearance doesn't spoil your enjoyment of the snack. Well, after you get over the initial shock.

Yes, the Twin Bing has to rank as the most unique-looking candy product I've tried in a number of years. And that includes the Idaho Spud and the dreadful Banana Dream. The Twin Bing starts with a cherry nougat center, which I believe is dipped in chocolate lightly before being drowned in a thicker chocolate-and-crushed-nuts mix.

SSI RATING (SNACK SATISFACTION INDEX - 1-10):  7.2

Twin Bing and the Palmer Candy Company
are discussed in great depth in:

UPSIDE:

For peanut fans, this is remarkably satisfying. Assuming you're also a chocolate fan and enjoy cherry nougat. What makes this a bit different than the Cherry Mash is the peanut presence. Much heavier. Chunky peanut butter fans should really appreciate this snack.

Going a step further, the Twin Bing is sold in very retro packaging and is made by a timeless family-owned candy company (see "CandyFreak" for lots of details about Palmer's). Just the fact this is not your typical Reese's, Mars, or Hershey's candy choice is nice, too.

DOWNSIDE:

I loved the Twin Bing upon first bite - then really needed to work through the rest of the candy. This is not a light snack. And after eating over 20 Twin Bings over the course of a month, I'm still not sure if I'm a cherry nougat lover. (And this, after I also ate over a dozen Cherry Mash candies in late 2004.) It's just an odd combo, and while probably something I'll now crave at certain points in my life for here until the day I kick, it's not going to enter my normal rotation of snacks.

PACKAGING:

Love it - you just feel like you're eating something special from a candy company that cares. In fact, that may be part of the reason I enjoy the Twin Bing. I know it's made with love.

DO YOU RECOMMEND THIS SNACK? (YES/NO - EXPLAIN):

Yes - expand your snack horizons and give a Twin Bing a shot. Whether you like it or not, you'll be a better snacker for it. And you may just find you're a cherry nougat fan, in which case this candy will change your life. Much like the first time you used the Swiffer.

DID YOU BRING THIS SNACK TO YOUR WORKPLACE?

Yes, that's right. I had a large box of Twin Bings delivered to my office and eagerly opened the beautiful box and welcomed all to partake. A few brave souls did just that... and pretty much no one reported back to me. When I went out seeking feedback, I received polite "Very interesting!" comments, but no one came back for seconds. That box of Twin Bings sat on my desk for a week before I brought it home to love it and care for it all by myself. What do my co-workers know, anyway. Most of them like Fast Break, for gosh sakes.
