M&Ms M-azing (Crunchy)

OFFICIAL SNACK REPORT

Location: Rite Aid (Fairfax & Sunset)

OFFICIAL NAME OF SNACK:
M*Azing Milk Chocolate Bar with M&M’S® MINIS® Crunchy Coated Candies

Price: 3 for $1

WEIGHT: 1.52 oz.

DESCRIPTION OF SNACK:
If you believe the cold-sterile science of  “The Apprentice” when they produced these bars there’s no reason to read on. However, if you believe that every candy has a soul that yearns to be consumed, you’ll relate to this. It is a surprisingly flat bar with little orbs of fun randomly spread throughout. In each bite you anxiously await to make contact with a candy, just like bubble gum ice cream. Considering I am not a big fan of the plain chocolate bar – especially Hershey’s traditional Chocolate Bar – this is more refined (not as in more sugar), with a sophisticated smooth finish. It could also double for a double-wide ruler 5” or less.

SSI RATING (SNACK SATISFACTION INDEX - 1-10):  7.3

First 4 Ingredients

Milk Chocolate
(sugar, cocoa butter, chocolate, lactose, skim milk,
milkfat, soy lecithin, pgpr, artificial flavors, salt)

Rice Flour
Sugar
Cocoa Butter

UPSIDE:

It’s not made by Hershey’s, because if it had been the chocolate bar would have been better as a door stop. It’s a good combination of great chocolate and some of my favorite candies – mini m&m’s.

DOWNSIDE:

I would have like the bar to be thicker. Plus, don’t think those little M&M’s are plentiful like the puffed rice is a “Crunch” bar, or else you’ll be sorely disappointed. Also, what the hell is “pgpr” as an ingredient in Milk Chocolate – anyone know?

PACKAGING:

Very traditional with the paper on outside and the foil on inside. And that is where the normalcy ends. I find it very exciting – they messed with the word “amazing” and incorporated the “M” from “M&M’s” which is rather clever. Plus look at all the other crap they managed to splash across the face…”new” , “crunchy”. Imagine what they could do to a grain of rice!

DO YOU RECOMMEND THIS SNACK? (YES/NO - EXPLAIN):

Most positively YES! It’s a great combination of two great candies. Silky chocolate and mini M&M’s. But let’s face it, you have to be in the mood for it because how often do you snack on a chocolate bar and then wash it down with some M&M’s – hmmm?

WOULD THE POPE APPROVE OF THIS COMBINATION?

Yes, the Pope is all about peace. Chocolate and candy getting along – man, he’s probably already blessed this union.
