OFFICIAL NAME OF SNACK:
Good Humor Smile!
Lemon Sherbet & Lemon Flavored Ice

PRICE: $1.25

WEIGHT: 3.5 fl oz.

SNACK LOOKS LIKE:
One large, yellow smiley face on a stick, suffering from extreme frostbite.

SSI RATING (SNACK SATISFACTION INDEX - 1-10): 7

UPSIDE:

As frozen ices go, this one's pretty darned good. Some lemon ices can get so sour on your tongue (Yankee Stadium's version, for example), that it takes you a full day for your taste buds to recover. But Smile! was just right. And I can't imagine eating a happier, more fun-looking ice cold snack. Also, only 1 gram of fat.

DOWNSIDE:

Once you get over the fact that you're eating a fun-looking cartoonish lemon ice, it hits you that you chose this cold sherbet confection over dozens of much more tasty ice cream treats. Also, don't be fooled by the packaging. The actual lemon-flavored ice is not as perfectly drawn as shown on the package, and comes with a thin layer of ice over much of it, thereby reducing the brightness of this ice's smile. And your own.

1ST 4 INGREDIENTS:

Broken down into Sherbet ingredients and Ice Ingredients.

Sherbet: Nonfat Milk, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Lemon Juice
Ice: Water, Sugar, Corn Syrup, High Fructose Corn Syrup

LAST 4 INGREDIENTS:

Sherbet: Polysorbate 80, Natural Flavor, Citric Acid, Yellow 5
Ice: Pectin, Red 40, Blue 1, Yellow 5

PACKAGING:

Kudos. I bought this item strictly because of the packaging. I'd walked by the Good Humor truck on many-a-lunch hour, always curious as to what this smiley guy frozen treat tasted like. In my mind, I thought it was an ice cream pattie dipped in off-white chocolate. So finding out it was lemon sherbet and ice was a tad disappointing. Still, nothing says summer fun than a Smile! wrapper.

DO I RECOMMEND YOU TRY THIS YOURSELF? (YES/NO - EXPLAIN):

Yes. When in the mood for something cold and lowfat this summer, Smile!

WHICH SOUTH PARK CHARACTER WOULD LIKE IT BEST?:

Terrence and Philip.
