M&M's Darth Mix (Dark Chocolate/Peanut)

OFFICIAL SNACK REPORT
Sanctioned By WASAW Snack Committee

Reviewed By: Patty Cakes (guest reviewer)

Location: Target

OFFICIAL NAME OF SNACK:
M&M's Darth Mix (Dark Chocolate/Peanut)

WEIGHT:
14 oz

PRICE: ($2.29)

DESCRIPTION OF SNACK:
Dark chocolate inside with a crunchy candy shell and a peanut middle. This snack is less sweet than the traditional Peanut M&M's, and yet not as yummy as Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate.

The "Jedi" peanut version has 5 colors: purple, grey, brown, scarlet, and blue. The plain version - called "Jedi Mix" - is the standard peanut m&m (milk chocolate) but comes in light green, light blue, tan, mustard yellow, and beige. (Note to Mars, Inc. - beige is a boring color).

SSI RATING (SNACK SATISFACTION INDEX - 1-10):  8.7

From Patty Cakes regarding this review:

"I have now eaten so much m&m chocolate I think
I have a stomach ache. Yeesh, and don't think I'm joking.
I think I ate the whole 14 oz bag while writing this review."

UPSIDE:

It's hard to improve upon M&M's if this is one of your favorite candies, but the dark chocolate version allows you to eat more before you hit the inevitable major sugar high. The dark chocolate lends a more mature flavor to M&M's, sort of bringing them to a more sophisticated chocolate-lover realm. (Tip: When attending your next dinner party, skip the wine and bring dark chocolate M&M's, instead. People will notice.)

The new colors are fairly exciting, though both the Jedi mix and the Darth mix have at least one color that is not all that fun to look at... that said, the not-fun-colored M&M allows you the perfect opportunity to loudly exclaim, "Ha! There's one in every crowd!" during uncomfortable silences. Like at dinner parties where you bring M&M's instead of wine.

(Note to Mars, Inc. - Try putting a Star Wars character on the lame-colored M&M. The other M&M's are talking smack about it and feelings are getting hurt.)

DOWNSIDE
:

Eating too many will get you fat!

PACKAGING:

The packaging is amusing - a young Han Solo on the Jedi Mix and a Cloaked Man on the Darth mix. (Editor's Note: We believe Patty Cakes is referring to Darth Vader when she says "Cloaked Man.") Cartoons and dark chocolate, what a combo!

DO YOU RECOMMEND THIS SNACK? (YES/NO - EXPLAIN):

Is the Force with you?! Yes, this is a great snack.

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO EAT YOUR DARK CHOCOLATE M&M's?

Pair them with milk chocolate M&M's. You can adjust the ratio to your preference, more Darth mix if you really like dark chocolate or more Jedi mix if milk chocolate is more appealing. Either way, you have a new taste to enjoy. To get really crazy, have some with peanuts and some without.

WHAT OTHER FUN THINGS CAN YOU DO WITH DARTH MIX AND JEDI MIX?

Play Texas Hold 'em! Remember, they melt in your mouth, not in your hand.
