Snacker (e)Mail Archive

July 17, 2004 - Wow, it's hard to believe that it has been over four years since these emails arrived in our Snacker inbox. Some of the info below and in the subsequent pages may be slightly outdated, but we didn't have the heart to delete them. Enjoy.

Oh, and feel free to drop us a line.

Flake is available in Canada, so it may also be available there (in the US). Show a picture of it to the guy in the corner store. Ask him if his supplier stocks it or can get it. When eating a Flake one must keep a free hand under the Flake when eating. It is to valuable to let fall on the ground.

dkelso - WASAW has found Flake in some random chocolate shops in NYC, but we doubt most of the rest of the country will find them. Canada, by the way, has proven itself as a country rich in candy resources -- both European and North American-based. If it wasn't for the bitter cold winters and Celine Dion, we'd have moved our headquarters up there years ago.

Imagine...caramel M&Ms - the most incredible snacking treat of all time

Dear Wasaw:

I am absolutely in awe of your site. Most people don't understand the important role that snacks have in our lives. I was lucky enough to grow up having a father who was a titan in the snack industry - believe it or not, but it is true - my father was President of both Good Humor ice cream AND the Mars Candy Company - talk about being in Snack heaven.

I know I babble on, but I did want to tell you about what I consider to be the ultimate snack that I have ever tasted - which unfortunately was never released to the general snacking public - imagine ... caramel M & Ms - the most incredible snacking treat of all time, and because my Father could bring home unlimited quantities of the "test" products, we had bowls of these tasty morsels all around our house. People would come by just to snag a taste of their nectar.

Anyway, Forrest Mars, the Chairman of Mars, at the time didn't like them and wouldn't let them go to market - for the record, he liked the "Forever Yours" bar better - FA!

Craig -- We are honored by your email, your compliments, and by the information you have provided us. Each of us would have gladly given a year of our respective lives for the chance to have tried those caramel M&Ms. Can you shed any light on what became of the Marathon Candy Bar? It is a WASAW mystery that haunts us in our sleep.

Speaking of M&Ms, WASAW once took bags of M&Ms (peanut, plain, almond, cripsy) from Colorado, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and South Carolina to see if the number of each M&M color in the various bags would show any regional favoritism. The results were so random, we came to no conclusions. However, we each consumed about 8 bags of M&Ms apiece during the tests, and concluded that we very much enjoy coming to no conclusions when it means consuming large quantities of snacks.

Black Crows.

Thanks for taking the time to sit down and write. It means a lot to all five of us that you did so, and with such passion. Our thoughts on Black Crows? Better than dirt, worse than ragweed.

PEZ

Okay, upon reading your review for PEZ I thought that there was something that should be added. I am a diehard PEZ fan, but there is a danger with the sugarless version that everyone should be made aware of. I was sucked into the concept of sugarless PEZ because they were on sale, I figured why not give them a whirl. Upon tasting the first pack i was astonished...way way way more flavor than regular PEZ. Ahhhhh, i was in heaven. 30 minutes later however... I found myself rushing to the bathroom because of a little problem I like to refer to as..."loose stool." Apparently the sugarless PEZ have an evil ingredient that, ahem, encourages bowel movements. The facts of this problem have been verified thru many trials and results remain consistent...

later....linds

Wow. "The facts of this problem have been verified thru many trials and results remain consistent..." Linds, we appreciate the effort, we really do. What would really impress us, though, is if you could polish off an entire box of Black Crows.
